Grady Cross came by the shop. What a wonderful guy and had his family along with him. What more could you ask for in a guitar player! Long live Cross Canadian Ragweed! Check out their shows and his board with Keeley pedals and George L Cables he built.
A big congratulations goes out to the 2006 Guitar Center Guitarmageddon winner, Matt O’Ree. Not only is Matt a great player, but he also uses the Keeley Baked TS-9. A fun fact: As part of his prize package, he has a chance to work on some recordings with Grammy-award winning producer Pete Anderson at his studio, Dogbone Studios. Funny thing is, Pete has a few pieces of Keeley gear himself! Hope you guys have fun!!!
Since we’re talking about Grammies, we have to give it up Best Hard Rock Performance nominees, Buckcherry. Guitarist Keith Nelson may be guitarded, but he sure seems to enjoy his SD-1 5 star, Loopers, and Java Boost! If you have a chance to watch these guys on stage, take it. One of the most energetic shows I’ve seen in a while!
Custom Made Keeley Compressor sound samples now available brought to you by Jason Barker of http://www.steelbender.com/
This gentleman does a great service to the guitar playing community. READ IT PLEASE! Plus
pictures of Frank "Silk" Smith (BB KING, ALBERT KING, ARETHA FRANKLIN) and Dexter Green (NASHVILLE STUDIO LEGEND) trying out the Keeley Comp. Pictures are property of Jason Barker and http://www.steelbender.com Audio clips of the Keeley Compressor @ Steelbender! George Lynch of Dokken is currently using one. Gordon Kennedy Nashville great, wrote Clapton's "Change the World" tune and countless other stuff is also playing one. Peter Frampton said he loved his! (Thank you so much!)
James Burton (Elvis and Ricky Nelson) is using the King Of Compressors as well. ;-) Sent Steve Kimock one after talking to him and seeing how nice and kind a person he was. Steve...I've almost finished your new custom effect...give me a call!!! I'm very happy to say Frank "Silk" Smith has one! Thank you kind sir! Tony Griffin (Plays with the Legened Johnny Johnson) uses several Keeley effects! Last but not least by any means, Dan Huff has recently switched tot he Keeley
compressor after 25 years of the dynacomp! Yeah Team!
New Keeley Customers in the last month include John Mayer, Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine, Greg Howe, Simple Plan
Hey Bob
I saw Joe Bonamassa last night in Ardmore. All night I was wondering, "HOW DOES HE GET THAT TONE?!?!?" "WHAT KIND OF SOUND IS THAT?!?!?"
So, at the end of the show, I inspected his pedal board, and found two of your pedals on it! The fuzz head and the java boost. I have a Fultone 69 I like real well, so I got your java boost. Now, if I can only get my fingers to move like Joe's, I'll be set!! Thanks for making such cool stuff.
Mark (PS. Check out Joe's New CD, he mentions KEELEY EFFECTS on it! I think it's his best CD to date! It's SMOKIN' JOE!!!!
Who's new to the Keeley Compressor? Wayne Perkins is taking the compressor out with Ken Valdez, a wonderful new blues guy touring with Johnny Lang. Wayne Perkins as you may know is a Muscle Shoals swamper who replaced Dwayne Allman in the legendary studio. He has played with everyone and most notably known as the White Wailer. He played guitar on Bob Marley's "Catch a Fire" recording and played the solos on "Stir It Up", "Concrete Jungle" and "Rock It Baby". He also considered the First American Rolling Stone. When Mick Taylor left the band he was the replacement. He played on "Black and Blue" and "Tattoo You". Both are using compressors and Wayne has got a triple Ts9 custom setup on order. Look for the Ken Valdez CD "Every Little Lie" coming out soon! This is great news for us as I am a huge Marley fan and Tiffany loves the Stones. Ric Latina, guitarist for Canadian country star Paul Brandt who's tour
just ended check out his web site
http://www.paulbrandt.com/tour/tour.htm.
And he plays guitar for blues gal Maranda Louise. Her new CD and tour
are coming up soon! I'll keep ya' posted! Thanks Ric!
Corky James ...First of all, he is THE MAN!!! This guy is a wicked L.A. studio ace. He plays on the New Avril Lavigne CD http://www.avril-lavigne.com
and the New LeAnn Rimes CD http://www.leann-rimes.com.
He has our Compressor, TS9, Baked TS7, DS-1 Mod, Rat 3 Way mod...blah, blah, blah... oh! And Some George L cables. How do I say thank you enough? Okay, give Avril a kiss on the cheek for me! ;-)
Here is a picture
of Corky with Avril. Check out the wealth of
Keeley stuff
this very kind guy is using! Here is his main web site.
How about Mark Karan of Rat- Bob Weir's (Grateful Dead) stellar band!!
Mark has the Java Boost, Fuzz Head, Compressor, etc..
Check out Shane Theriot http://www.shanetheriot.com
The new disc is incredible. I was lucky enough to have Shane send me a copy. The best perks for this job are the music you guys send! He'll also be taking them (Keeley pedals) to Nashville next week for some studio dates that he has there, so I'll be able to report more back to you after these dates. Shane also wanted me to ask you if you had received the CD that he had sent out( HELL YEAH!) . If you have time, drop him a note with your thoughts on the CD (Don That, been there!) . We're expecting a review in Modern Drummer in December, and another in a future issue of DownBeat Magazine.
CHECK OUT the new BOSS Magazine! Madonna's guitar player is using the Keeley Compressor!
How about this endorsement from Rick Asmega!? I blush, this guy has helped me out with the finer things related to our pedal mods. Ever open up a new Keeley modded pedal and compare it to other big name mod men? The difference is obvious, you can't tell we've been in there, the boards are so clean. This guy soldered for the military and has passed some secrets on to us. How about better than mil. spec. soldering! Rick said this: "I've been looking for that perfect guitar sound for 45+ years....
I finally found the place & the person, that will give your ears what they really need...."
Pedals custom built/modified by Robert Keeley!
Rick Asmega Chief Engineer / Producer REEL ADVENTURES & Orion Blue Book board of advisors
Steely Dan Fan? How about Jon Herington, he has done recent tours with
Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs, he has a TS9 and BD-2. Here is what this kind soul had to say: "Robert, Just have to tell you that I absolutely love the way both pedals sound. It's nice to find someone with technical know-how AND great ears! Great work. Thank you. You asked about my playing experience; basically I'm a free lance guitarist in New York doing a variety of work in clubs, in studios, and on the road. Recent highlights are my recording and touring with Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs. Check my website for more info, if you're curious.
http://www.jonherington.com "
Thanks Jon (I got goose bumps thinking of how
sweet those gigs are!)
Peter Frampton had me modify his TS808 to my specs. I felt wild doing
it but heck, He loved it so much he is sending me his other ones! Thanks again Peter, nice working with you.
Well, LARRY CRANE is using one as his main pedal! Yep, Guitarist for John Mellencamp for 15 years, he defined heartland rock and a guitar tone for it. Larry earned his elite sideman status by working with such artists as Steve Earle, Rosanne Cash, Bonnie Raitt, Lou Reed, John Prine, William Golden, John Fogerty, and legendary producer Bob Johnston, among others. Please do yourself a favor and visit his site!
LARRY CRANE
Well, the incredible Jason Barker as stated above uses the modified blues driver. Chris Hicks is on tour right now with Sara Evans using the comp and bd-2. Sorry I missed you guys in Norman, that's what I get for not checking my answering machine...("Robert, come down meet Sara".....here's me, "I'll get the phone as soon as I put this diode in", next day, "Awhh Shoot!"). Shane Conaway with major label artist Ty England, great guitarist and teacher is loving the BD-2 and Rat
mods. This guy can create some Jazz! Joe Rodriguez (A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS) This guy performs the Vai and Satriani style guitar-works like he invented it. Very original. Check out his solo efforts, you
will not regret it!
Jorge Laboy, Puerto Rico's famous studio guitarist with his band 3AM
uses the Keeley Compressor and the Keeley Modded BD-2 Phat Blues
Driver.
Matt Beck finished up a tour with Lisa Loeb and is now hitting the road
with Matchbox 20 has a couple BD-2 pedals from us and a BD-2 Flux
Driver, the Freak of the Week model! Here is a picture of
Dweezil, Lisa, and Matt Beck.
August Eriksmoen (Conductor) has been involved with The Full Monty as guitarist uses the KEELEY BD-2, keyboardist and Associate Conductor. A graduate of Berklee, his conducting/music directing credits include Imperfect Chemistry (Off-Broadway, also orchestrations), Always...Patsy Cline (orchestrations and vocal arrangements), Honky Tonk Angels (orchestrations), tours including Hello Dolly! and several companies of Forbidden Broadway. As a guitarist, August performs regularly with bands in NYC, where he lives with his wonderful wife Jessica and their bird, Oscar. August endorses Ovation/Hamer guitars and EMG pickups. http://www.thefullmonty.com
Dan Lawson! Yeah baby, this guy has the BD-2 times two of them! ;-) The DS-1 and Compressor! We have modified very rare and vintage Ibnaez effects for him as well. PLEASE check out his site! http://www.dannylawson.com He just used the BD-2 on stage at Yasgur's Farm in Woodstock where he played the Star Spangled Banner as people dropped in from the sky holding US Flags! All on TV for a July 4th/9-11 special. More on this great man's career soon. The list is long and impressive so I wil have to edit it somehow!
I was blessed enough to have Steve Vai try out the Seeing Eye Mod, he
told me he loved and bought two more, and got the first DS-ULTRA! He said one was going to his
chief engineer Neil Citron and one was going to be a gift for Joe
Satriani. Many more as you might imagine. Thanks everyone for the
kind comments you have emailed me. Hey most of all, thanks to Dave Weiner!!!
The guitarist for Delbert Mclinton, Greg Lockhart is using the TMB we manufacture for
Legendary Tones. Aerosmith is on tour with one and you can read the
report and see the pictures on
http://www.legendarytones.com. Legendary
producer Bob Rock has a TMB and has been letting James Hetfield of
Metallica try it out while they record their new CD. I am very excited
about the responses to the TMB. Thanks for all that helped get out to
the pros using it!
BROOKS AND DUNN's better half (pair), Tony King and Lou Toomey,
both really digging their Time Machine Boost pedals. They were some of the first to have
the circuit board models. As usual, the Nashille group of guitar players are all perfect
gentlemen. These guys are no exception!

This guy's gonna shine! --> DAN WELLER. (http://www.danweller.com) He plays with Drew Womack http://www.drewwomack.net). What a tight organization they have. The sound was clear, harmonies good, but wait! ...there's a guitar player of high caliber in this Texas/country/rock band (Much like Chris Masterson of Hank Williams the 3rd and Bare Jr.). What's cool is I hear this sound leaking from Texas (funny comment only if you live in Oklahoma!)...and it's a great sound, better than what I hear on the radio. Maybe something to do with bands and their sound as the hit the WORMY DOG..... OKAY< DAN WELLER, LISTEN FOLKS, this guy plays his effects like a mad man!! Yeah, he taps and jumps and twists and does everything in a way that makes his feet look like the latest Hollywood animation!!! He can drop in an effect sound on a dime and make 6, 7, 8 changes in a heartbeat....back to a sound used for a moment to finish a verse, just in time for a miltary barage of changes for the chorus. And guess what?!?!? It's ALL musically baby. Tone it TONE Baby, and he's got it. I would have never thought from a Blade guitar and a Franken Strat that would feel at home with any strat lover/tinkerer...he would have such a attracting, magnetic tone. Dan is a lover of music and plays and sings like a true spirt. We are pround to have him Endorse Keeley Effects. You did a great job bro!
The Blue LEDS were on and so was this band. I have to say the Drummer was my favorite kind, don't know why in words but, he was on the back, BACK of the beat and was always there, powerful and invisible, and just freakin' groovy as all get out. The bass player...when was the last time you heard an interesting bass line in a country-ish type tune?!?!? Yeah, well, I heard some! No joke! He was havin' fun and dancing and singing great harmonies. I don't mean to steal any of the show from the front man with the descriptions of band mates, Drew was on top of his game. The songs we TRUE, people played as slaves to the songs because they were TRUE. People on that cold night had to listen because the imagery was TRUE. The Voice of Drew was true. Amen! Check 'em out folks Drew Womack, CD out in March, and there's an EP out now wth all the great tunes I heard. http://www.danweller.com http://www.drewwomack.net
Visit the TONE LEGENDS at Victoria Amps!!!
